Look what I can do!

Every child is unique and learns and grows in their own way—and that’s something to celebrate! The Looksee Checklists help you notice all the new things your child is learning and doing at specific ages — but it's not a test.

Focus on what your child can do. Maybe they’re not walking yet, but they’re scooting across the floor like a pro. Maybe they haven’t said their first word, but they point, wave, and use consistent sounds to tell you what they want. Those are all signs of growth!

When you fill out your Looksee Checklist, take a moment to really notice your child. Are they starting to stack blocks? Trying new foods? Showing interest in books? These little steps lead to big learning. Your child is doing important work every day — through play, exploring, and watching the world around them.

Notice the way your child smiles when they figure out something new.. Their curiosity and effort are signs of learning and those moments are important. Every child grows in their own way, and progress doesn’t look the same for everyone.

If there are things on the checklist your child isn’t doing yet, use that information as a guide.  Try a new game or a different way to play and ask your child’s doctor or early years professional for tips. It's not about being “ahead” or “behind”— the Looksee Checklists are about meeting your child where they are and helping them grow from there.

So go ahead, have fun using the “tips to help your child grow” included with your Looksee Checklist!
